As a Computer Instructor, you will teach computer skills to adults in a small setting of 6 to 10 students. The curriculum includes computer basics: creating and organizing files, sending/receiving email, using the Internet, and more. Instructors provided with technical support, resources and materials, and training as needed.

Helping Link is looking for a Citizenship Instructor to teach English literacy, and US history and government to English limited speaking adult students. Responsibilities: – Serve as part of a cohort of instructors teaching adult students to maximize their achievement on the CASAS test and nationalization interview – Develop instructional material and activities to review class content and supplement the work being done in class Note: Citizenship resources and materials are available. Requirements: – Passion and enthusiasm for working with adult students – Ability to work independently and in a team setting – Commitment of four hours a week.

Duties:

Helping Link is looking for organized, driven and enthusiastic volunteers to be our Events Specialist. An excellent opportunity for individuals who seek to gain people skills, organization skills, communication skills, time management and give back to the community.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work with the Event Committee to prepare, organize and execute a successful event.
  • Plan and oversee venue scheduling, equipment needs, and other related logistics.

Helping Link seeks a grant writer to contribute skills and enthusiasm to the Vietnamese community. S/He will work with team members to conduct prospect research, as well as develop, write, and submit grant proposals and applications.

  • Persuasively communicate the organization’s mission to potential funders.
  • Research potential public/private, corporate, foundation, and individual funding sources.
  • Manage grant information in Salesforce or another database.
  • Work with Executive Director to identify program needs and funding goals.
  • Prioritize to meet multiple or ongoing deadlines.
  • A team player and able to work independently, possessing strong research and communication skills.

A minimum commitment of 2-4 hours a week is preferred. Training provided.

Helping Link is looking for a graphic designer to create visual ideas for the purpose of informing and/or capturing the interest of prospective students, volunteers, and donors.

The goal is done primarily by designing artwork, sound, text, and video into interactive multimedia, packaging, and advertisements using graphic design software.

The information technology (IT) support specialist devoted to all aspects of computer set-up, installation, troubleshooting, service, upgrades, security, and maintenance. The position can also include handling how computers connect to each other or the rest of the network; printing, both locally and on the network; and auxiliary devices such as tablets, PDAs, and smartphones.

  • Serve as the media liaison regarding the Gala, working with both English & Vietnamese media.

  • Work with our Marketing Team to manage our Facebook page and Twitter account.

Qualifications:

  • Essential experience in HTML, Java, and CSS
  • An understanding of various web browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)

A few hours a week can have a huge impact in someone’s life! Helping Link is seeking for volunteer tutors for our After School Tutoring Program. Tutors are directly involved in helping youths, ages 6-14, from the Vietnamese community. Our goal is to assist students in completing their homework, a task that may not be possible at home due to language barriers present in their home from their parents.

Tutors provide an engaging, safe, and fun environment where students can improve both academically and socially. Instructors will focus on children’s homework, followed by art or science projects.

Tutoring provided on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, divided into two shifts from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and for 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Our program runs on a quarter system, and each quarter lasts about ten weeks. We ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours/week.
