This is an exciting time for Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối. While the agency continues its 30-year tradition of helping Vietnamese refugee and immigrant families become established in King County, we are also taking on new challenges and opportunities. The agency is relocating our facility to Renton, the area with among the largest Vietnamese-American population in King County. This move was necessitated by the sale and redevelopment of our former office in Seattle’s International District, which had served as home for more than 20 years. Once we are settled into our new home watch for details on an open house.

Our new facility means a welcomed return to in-person ESL and technology literacy classes—which migrated online during the pandemic—along with hosting community events. We are hiring two support staff to assist our stalwart Executive Director (and founder), Minh Đức Phạm Nguyễn. Later this spring, we are investing in strategic visioning work so that Helping Link is best positioned to respond to the needs of the community, now and in coming years.

I’ve been a supporter of Helping Link for years and I joined thevolunteer Board of Directors in April 2023.

My fellow board members are enthusiastic and dedicated! And we want to strengthen our organization with two additional Board members. I invite you to join our team!

The Board of Directors volunteer position requires 8-12 hours per month, including a monthly evening meeting. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills and to gain experience with nonprofit management and oversight. If you have previous board service, here’s a chance to apply your expertise to a local organization. The position description is on our website:
