Angelica Nguyen shares what she learned at Helping Link as a Teens In Public Services (TIPS) intern working with community and social media and her enjoyment in having an impact on the lives of others.

Although I’ve only been with Helping Link for a few weeks I’ve already learned so much about myself and the work it takes to run a nonprofit. As a TIPS intern I was uncertain where I would be placed but when I heard back that it was at Helping Link, which works with the Vietnamese-American community, I was beyond pleased. At Helping Link I work as a community outreach and social media intern. In the time I’ve been here I’ve had projects that focus on reaching out to other organizations in the area to create connections and brainstorming new ways to boost our socials.

What I enjoy most about Helping Link is the group of people that surround me and the visible impact that my work has on the lives of others. Being surrounded by people who are also passionate about helping the Vietnamese-American community in the area helps motivate me every day. Additionally, seeing all of the students engaged and thriving makes me happy that they’re able to have access to the resources they need to be able to adjust to life in the U.S., especially since education is an important value to me. So far being an intern at Helping Link this summer has been nothing but rewarding! If you have any free time, definitely come visit the H.U.B. in Renton to learn about volunteer opportunities.
