For many of us, communication is something we take for granted. But for Helping Link clients, arriving in a new homeland without the ability to speak, understand, or communicate in English is one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

The words of one client resonate for many. When recalling the effect of Helping Link on her life this client said, “I had been through one of the most difficult periods of my life. In my new homeland, I felt so disabled by my inability to speak, understand, or communicate in English that at times I felt as though I could not speak, walk, or hear. Those fears changed after I met the Helping Link/Một Dấu Nối team, where I was surrounded by such a great circle of love and support.”

Through Helping Link’s ESL and Citizenship programs, she gained so much more than English skills. She knew her place in the world was changing, and said, “I finally feel like I am no longer alone and isolated. Thank you for creating this opportunity.”

Helping Link’s services are life changing. Because of the caring and help provided by Helping Link she and many others gain confidence, independence, and a renewed sense of belonging.

Her experiences show us that language access is about more than learning English. It is about dignity, connection, and having the confidence to participate fully in the community.
